I sew all the time. I think I’ve used my Bernina at least 5 days a week since I bought it for my birthday back in 2008. I’ve been published as a quilter – and I spent many years exhibiting my work in shows and selling my “art” quilts in a gallery. I have one piece on exhibition at the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield, MI and my quilts are in private collections in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, New York and Japan.
I’ve always been inspired by color. With me, it’s always the fabric. I see something I have to have and then I decide what I’ll do with it. Since 2008 I’ve been making my own clothes and having a great time with pattern and sewing techniques. I love to make something that does not look homemade. I want the clothes I wear to be as fine as what I could buy for thousands more. So I work hard at perfecting my sewing techniques.
My dream from childhood through my teenage years was to study fashion design in New York. I didn’t get there and other dreams took precedence. Now I create clothing for me and I love the process.
